Quishing in Frankfurt: Eight Phishing Stickers on Parking Machines in Nordend and Westend

At least eight phishing stickers in Nordend and Westend
At the end of June 2026, Frankfurt police discovered at least eight phishing stickers on parking machines in the Nordend and Westend districts. Affected streets included Fichardstraße, Grüneburgweg, Eschersheimer Landstraße, Finkenhofstraße and Bornwiesenweg. Unknown perpetrators had covered the QR codes of the provider EasyPark.
The fake code led to a deceptively real website that requested credit card details. The scam was uncovered by an attentive witness who reported the first sticker on Fichardstraße – during subsequent checks, police found seven more manipulated machines.
Frankfurt has been hit for the second time: manipulated QR codes were already discovered on parking machines in the city at the end of 2024. The scam returns in waves – stay vigilant.
Why parking machines are the perfect target
People who park are in a hurry. That is exactly what the perpetrators count on: the QR code promises quick, cashless payment – and in the rush, hardly anyone checks whether the code is genuine or which domain they are entering their credit card details on. Moreover, official machines look trustworthy; a professionally designed sticker does not stand out there.
How to protect yourself
- • Pay directly at the machine with coins or card instead of via QR code where possible.
- • Download parking apps like EasyPark only from the official app stores.
- • Look out for QR codes that appear stuck over or crookedly attached.
- • Check QR codes for phishing with QRTrust before opening them.
